Transitioning to the Preliminary Design Phase Toward Building a Commercial Low Earth Orbit (LEO) Economy in the Post-ISS Era
Japan LEO Shachu, Inc. (“Japan LEO Shachu”, Head Office: Chuo City, Tokyo, Representative Director and CEO: Yudai Yamamoto) hereby announces the successful completion of the System Definition Review (SDR) for the Japanese Module and the Commercial Cargo Resupply Vehicle (HTV-XC), which are being advanced under the Space Strategy Fund–adopted programs “Autonomous Low Earth Orbit Module System Technology” and “Technologies for Autonomous and Flexible Cargo Resupply Systems with Global Competitiveness”
The SDR is a critical project milestone at which the overall system design philosophy, key specifications, system architecture, interface definitions, and verification and validation approaches are assessed against mission requirements. Completion of this review has confirmed the validity of the system architecture and requirements allocation for the Japan Module and HTV-XC, enabling the projects to proceed to the next phase, the Preliminary Design phase.
These development efforts aim to establish a sustainable LEO platform in the post-ISS era, strengthening Japan’s industrial competitiveness in the space sector and contributing to the establishment of a commercial LEO ecosystem. Moving forward, the Company will advance subsystem-level preliminary designs and further define key interfaces as well as performance allocations.
Under the framework of the Space Strategy Fund, the Company will continue to steadily promote the establishment of space infrastructure originating from Japan through close public–private collaboration.
